The National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) is a standardized exam that is used for the licensing of nurses in the United States and Canada. It has been in use since 1982 in the US and since 2015 in Canada. There are two types of NCLEX exams: NCLEX-RN for registered nurses and NCLEX-PN for practical/vocational nurses. After completing a nursing education program, graduates are required to take the NCLEX exam to obtain their nursing license and practice as a professional nurse. The exam assesses the knowledge and skills necessary for safe and effective nursing practice.
